Difference Between Starter, Grower And Finisher Feed You Give Your Poultry Birds

*WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THE DIFFERENT INGREDIENTS IN STARTER, GROWER, FINISHER, AND LAYER FEED AND TIPS ABOUT FEED FORMULATION.*

Every Good Poultry feed must be highly nutritious, and supply good energy for the birds. Farmers must also ensure adequate and quality feeding and not ration feeds for the birds. Never ration or reduce poultry feed for your birds. The disadvantages of doing this are always bad. But to prevent rationing only raise and stock the number of birds you are capable of raising.
The highly nutritious feed gives energy and without adequate and quality feeding you can't run your poultry business successfully.

Broilers Feed Formulation.
Broilers why at day old requires more protein to develop their feathers, bone, ligament, and muscles. That's why feed that must be given to them while they are still young must contain more protein than carbohydrates. For example ingredients such as Full fat soya, soya beans, fishmeal, bone meal, and Groundnut cake must be in their feed Formulation to provide the required amount of protein needed by the birds. A good Starter feed must contain between 22-24% of Crude protein in Waec gce expo 2023.

But As Broilers grow their Energy Requirement increases and their protein level reduces. That is why Finisher Feed can be given to them from their 5TH Week. Finisher feed contains more maize and energy ingredients to provide more energy for the Broilers and maintain their body weights. Finisher feed contains at least 18% of Crude Protein.

Grower Feeds
The nutritional composition of grower feed is not for broilers as it doesn't support weight gain, because most of the ingredients it contains do not have much protein in them to support fast growth. the feed given to them should only be adding more fat and weight to them. And grower does not contain those ingredients that enable Broilers to add weight fast.
Feeding them with growers is mismanaging their feeding.
Grower feed is formulated for layers because they are not meant for meat but for egg production and it is to be fed to pullets from 6 weeks until they start to lay, and also layers don't need much protein to carry out their daily activities until they start laying eggs.
Grower feeds must contain PKC, wheat offal, maize, and soya beans among other ingredients.
Grower feed contains 16% Crude Protein.
Grower is best fed and given to long-time birds for example turkeys, layers, and noiler.

Layer Feed Formulation.
Layer feed must contain all the needed Ingredients for laying birds to lay well and stay strong. Layers at 18 weeks above require calcium, vitamins, and minerals to lay eggs every day. The reason is that it's the nutrients gotten from the feed that will transfer to the eggs. That is why immediately after a few of your layers start laying eggs, you must switch them to layer feed, or else if they continue laying eggs without you giving them layers feed. They will use the nutrients and calcium of their own body and this may cause paralysis, and loss of weight and they will also lay small eggs. Layers Feed must contain at least 18% of Crude Protein.
Every Good Layers Feed must contain Maize, soya beans, fish meal, layer premix, methionine, Threonine, and tryptophan toxin binder, The feed should contain calcium (limestone) for the formation of eggshells (laying hens that do not get enough calcium will use the calcium stored in their bone tissue to produce eggshells).
